Hear from judge Reuben Paterson as he discusses his prize-winning selections on display in the National Contemporary Art Award (NCAA) exhibition.
Held annually, this prestigious competition attracts hundreds of entries and brings the best of Aotearoa New Zealand contemporary art to Waikato Museum.
This year 35 works by 34 artists have been selected as finalists by Reuben Paterson (Ngāti Rangitihi, Ngāi Tūhoe, Tūhourangi), one of the country’s top contemporary artists.
Join us in the gallery as Reuben discusses the artworks he picked, including the winner of the $20,000 top prize, his experience of the blind judging process, and reveals themes which have emerged in this bold and stylish exhibition of new work.
