On a three year National tour, the Anne Frank travelling Exhibition from the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, has been telling Frank's story through family photos and excerpts from her diary, to thousands of New Zealanders.
The story is not soley their own- but one that represents the many Jews in the Holocaust. A well known story, the Franks spent two years in hiding during WWII in the secret annex at the rear of an office building. Anne's diary became very famous, tracking their life through the war, right through to their betrayal being led to concentration camps and eventually their death.
The exhibition itself uses eleven large panels with a timeline encompassing a general history of World War II and the Holocaust on one side with Anne's personal story on the other, giving the visitors an idea of how the story relates to worldwide events.
A moving exhibition that captures an event that's effect has echoed throughout history as a harrowing reminder of human downfall- a history for today, a story not just to grieve over but to learn from.
