Celebrate Te Wiki o Te Teo Maaori or Maaori Language Week. Pick up a card from our front desk and learn te reo words while exploring our free galleries. Find the words and take home some knowledge. Ka mau te wehi!

At Waikato Museum Te Whare Taonga o Waikato we use a double vowel where a macron would normally be used. This is the preferred spelling of Waikato-Tainui. One advantage is it helps with the pronounciation of the long vowell sound e.g. Maaori. Kapai!
