Kōrua Duo

24 June 2021

12pm-1pm

Free event

Violinist Lucas Baker and pianist Noelle Dannenbring perform at Waikato Museum as part of their 2021 concert series. Both members of the violin and piano duo have received much personal success in the field of collaborative music making and hold vast amounts of experience under different chamber music ensemble combinations.

The name, Kōrua, was inspired by the concept of partnership - Kōrua means “you two”- and the symbolism of the Koru spiral - new life, growth, strength and peace - reflecting the duo’s musical intentions. Kōrua have performed around the North Island and given concerts in Cambridge, Rotorua, Taupo and Wellington.

Kōrua aspires to create more coherency between different performing art forms and rearrange orchestral ballet repertoire for violin and piano duo. The pair envisions showcasing new and unfamiliar compositions and composers.
