A staged reading of Her Naked Skin by Rebecca Lenkiewicz, in support of the Zonta Says No to violence against women campaign.

In Her Naked Skin we witness the courage of the suffragettes in their struggle in 1913 to gain not only the vote for women but recognition as equal members of society. In the House of Commons we see the inhumane attitudes of the ruling males towards what they call “the lunatic fringe of frigid lonely women who crave attention”. In Holloway Prison we see the brutal treatment of those suffragettes.

Lenkiewicz shows how the movement brought together women from very different social classes and transcended sexual norms. She also shows how a socially privileged woman will inevitably rely on that privilege in the struggle.
