Heritage Talk: Dr Ann McEwan

14 October 2017

2pm-3pm

Free event

In 1954 Robin Winks, a former American Fulbright scholar, described Hamilton as ‘the most modern city in New Zealand’. Come along and hear Dr Ann Mc Ewan, Heritage Consultant share the insights of Waikato’s architectural history to present time.

Although many people believe a building or structure must be old to be historic, the city’s modern heritage is a valuable heritage asset that is increasingly vulnerable to redevelopment. Waikato Museum is a landmark building in New Zealand’s architectural history and will one day be recognised as one of Hamilton’s iconic heritage buildings. In the meantime, the legacy of the post-World War II era deserves our attention and appreciation.
