Matariki in the City is a free event that celebrates the Maaori New Year and its significance to Maaori culture. Matariki in the City is a fun, engaging day suitable for the whole whaanau.

The day includes cultural performances, opportunity to learn how to make manu aute, listen to traditional stories from renowned storytellers Joe Harawira and Kawe Roes. A presentation from Space Dave about Matariki stars, a graffiti demonstration from Garreth Steiner, kids face painting, and much more. 

Staff from the Waikato Museum will be helping you to make star crafts.
