Fibre Connecting People: A multicultural fibre art exhibition and symposium
19 May - 2 July 2017
Every material culture since humans started creating clothing has developed their own significant set of symbols. These symbols developed over centuries and have been woven into the very fabric of the culture. Identity, fibre, colour and necessity have culminated in the abundant beauty in the form of textiles. This exhibition celebrates the diversity of material culture from our rich Maaori and multi-cultural heritages in Aotearoa to those from all around the globe. A fibre art symposium will also be held in conjunction with the exhibition.
Education programmes are available for this exhibition.
