Fernz: An Exploration of Pteridophyta and the Kiwi Icon

24 September 2016 - 8 January 2017

Free entry

An ancient feature of New Zealand’s ecosystems is explored through works and objects from Waikato Museum’s collection as well as external loans from Te Papa, private collectors, artists and scientists. The fern’s key role in art and iconography, its cultural significance and natural history is unpacked in a show that celebrates the long relationship New Zealand has with this large floral group.

Education programmes are available for this exhibition.
