Whenua Ora / Upon the Land

29 August 2015 - 25 April 2016

Contemporary Maaori art from Waikato Museum's collection

Between Papatuuaanuku and Ranginui, the Earth Mother and Sky Father, there is a space; this is called the waa, the space where we live.

This selection of artists considers the various events and phenomena of their own time and of that of their tuupuna (ancestors). Their works are conceived between traditional and modern practices relating to the earth and the sky.

They are of the land and they are upon the land.
