Children’s Day

Experience non-stop fun at the Museum on this free day to celebrate our children.

  • Enjoy free entry to Excsite, Planet Warriors and Sounds Amazing
  • Take a break in our parents’ room with your little ones while your older children discover what they can do to save the world in the exhibition  Planet Warriors
  • Make a wishing boat and float it in the Museum pool
  • 10am-3pm - Check out the jungle amusement bouncy castle behind ArtsPost
  • 11am-11.30am, 12.30-1pm, 2pm-2.30pm - See Matt and Andy Switch to Save, a children’s show on energy conservation and efficiency delivered by Earth’s Customer Service Team from Full House Productions
  • 11am-2.30pm - Train with the Northern Knights on their batting, bowling and throwing board to win spot prizes like plastic kids bats, signed Knights’ bats or Go Girl cricket balls, provided by the Northern Districts Cricket Association - see the list of players below. 
  • 12pm-2pm - Join Ken from the Zoo on a bat detective tour in Exscite to go in the draw to win a surprise!
  • Enjoy a picnic lunch by the beautiful riverbank below the Museum
  • Join the Honu/Peka face paint trail between Garden Place Library and the Museum, you can start or finish here!
  • Have a go on the pottery wheel or play with clay with the Waikato Society of Potters.
