What looks like a pie-cart or a tiny sea-side bach (crib) is actually a small gallery space. You need to enter it to see the miniature art works made by some very notable New Zealand artists. Almost directly beneath this collection of art works, embedded into the Ngati Wairere earth, are the actual museum collections stores which have limited access.

By giving you access to view this fictional collection, the curators wanted you to imagine what it might be like to enter in to the subterranean collections that have been amassed in the city since the 1930s.  Similarly to the art works by artists housed below the artists for Collected Fictions are telling their own stories whether they be truth, myth, legend or lie.
