Sapper Moore-Jones: The Line of Fire
Theatre of the Impossible Trust (TOTI)
Recognition for Horace Moore-Jones as an artist and hero has come late, some ninety-four years after his death in an act of sacrifice in a fire that consumed the Hamilton Hotel in 1922.
As a wounded Anzac, Moore-Jones picked up life as an art teacher, and here his association with Hamilton began; as teacher at the Hamilton High School from which grew the Hamilton Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools, as well as the Waikato Institute of Technology.
"Beautifully designed by Richard Stowers and superbly researched by Margaret Evans and TOTI members "Sapper Moore-Jones: 'The Line of Fire'" is a triumphant achievement and tribute that is a joy to look through, to read and to hold."
Gail Pittaway, Senior Lecturer, WINTEC School of Media Arts, Hamilton.
